"The light of Christians cannot be hidden, a lamp shining so brightly cannot be hidden.’"
-St. John Chrysostom (347-407), archbishop and Patriarch of Constantinople
Welcome!
As pastor of Saint Agatha Parish I am happy to welcome you to our parish website. While face-to-face contact is always preferable, inasmuch as the Son of God became flesh and dwelt among us; nevertheless, our electronic media, such as our website and Facebook page, are a current and wonderful means of communication.
This website makes it possible to connect people from near and far away with our vibrant Catholic community here at St. Agatha’s. In addition to being a means of information and communication, the content of our website will I hope whet your appetite to come in person and take part in one of the many events and activities of our parish. Again and again I have heard people comment about how welcoming a community of faith we have here. First and foremost, as disciples of Jesus Christ we come together for Mass on weekends and during the week to worship Almighty God, to receive the strength that the Lord offers us through His word in Sacred Scripture and in the Holy Eucharist to sustain us in the calling each one of us has received to follow Christ, and to be Christ-bearers to others.
Our parish also has a number of opportunities to grow in our faith and relationship with Christ through various prayer opportunities and faith formation for children, teens, and adults. Daily Masses, weekly Eucharistic Adoration, and opportunties for Bible studies, and prayer groups are ways to grow as a disciple. Service and outreach to others, is a hallmark of our parish. My Brother’s Keeper, the St. Rock Haiti Foundation, Irish Hearts for Orphans, and the Appalachian Service Project are several of the organizations that our parish community supports, and we are hoping to expand our outreach further in the coming year.
There are also a number of athletic and social events that mark our parish calendar. Saint Agatha Parish is also blessed to have a strong School community with two years of our early Childhood program, and Grades K-8th Grade.
Along with my fellow priests and our pastoral staff, I look forward to serving you in your journey of faith.
Sincerely in Christ,
Rev. William Palardy
