Music at Saint Agatha’s is inextricably woven into the liturgy. Music expresses our greatest joys and laments, our thanksgivings and needs, and it gives voice to our journey as an intentional faith community striving to follow Jesus Christ.

Music is our sung prayer not only at weekend liturgies, but also penitential services, morning and evening prayer, school liturgies, wedding and funeral liturgies, and other events throughout the year. Acclamations, chants, ostinatos, psalms, choral works, hymns, and instrumental music raise our minds, hearts and voices to God.

Our parish music ministry includes:

• Adult Choir The St. Agatha Parish Adult Choir welcomes all who have a love for music and a desire to sing together for the glory of God. The Adult Choir rehearses on Thursday evenings and sings for most 11:30am Sunday Masses throughout the choir season (September-June.) In addition, we sing for Holy Day celebrations, Christmas, the Sacred Triduum and Easter, and for other special events throughout the church year. New and returning singers are always welcome. • Youth Choir The Youth Choir welcomes singers in grade 3 and older. This enthusiastic, dedicated group rehearses Thursday afternoons and sings most Sundays at the 9:30am Family Mass during the school year. Youth Choir also sings for Christmas Eve, Easter Sunday, and First Holy Communion Masses. Youth Choir is a parish ministry and is offered at no cost to families. • Young Voices  This ensemble, for middle and high school singers grades 7 and older, sings at the Sunday 5pm Mass under the direction of our 5pm liturgical musician, Diana Mukusheva. New singers welcome! Email dmukusheva@stagathaparish.org for more information.

• Cherub Choir The Cherub Choir welcomes singers in grades 1 and 2. This training choir introduces our youngest singers to choral singing in an informal, after-school setting. We learn elementary vocal technique and rehearsal routines, and build a core repertoire of songs, while learning about our faith and having fun! Cherub Choir rehearses on Thursday afternoons and sings for the Sunday 9:30am Family Mass monthly during the school year. Cherub Choir is offered at no cost to families. • Hand Chime Chorale  This seasonal ensemble enhances liturgical celebrations throughout the year. Hand chimes are similar to handbells, but with a lighter, silvery tone. We are seeking new ringers for this exciting new facet of our music ministry! Music-reading ability helpful but not required. • Cantors  Cantors proclaim sacred Scripture in the responsorial psalms and gospel acclamations. They also lead and encourage congregational singing. Cantors sing music of comfort for funerals and of celebration for weddings. Most cantors grow into their roles through experience singing in our Adult or Youth Choirs.

• Instrumentalists  Our parish is blessed to have many talented instrumentalists who add to special celebrations such as Christmas and Holy Week.
