Service Plunge 2008
|

|
| “Service
Plunge” started this year in a thunder and lightning
storm on Monday, June 23rd. Despite the bad weather,
forty young people made their way to the ropes course
in Hopkinton, Ma. We were lucky! When they got there
the rain had stopped and the group was able to do the
ropes course. Everyone had a great time and it was a
wonderful community building activity! |

Clothing Collection for Long Island Shelter and Blanket Collection for Fr. Bill’s Place |
 |
Young Church Ministry sponsored a clothing collection for Long Island Shelter and a blanket collection for Fr. Bill’s Place in early January. Young people from the 8th grade
and a couple of ninth grade classes volunteered to help on this weekend. Stephen Morrissey, a tenth grade Confirmation candidate, was there all day as part of his Confirmation Service. Thanks to all the helpers, we did very well with this collection. |

Young Church Ministry – Junior High Activities – Fall 2007 |

On September 30th Fr. Chris O’Connor directed a 6th, 7th and 8th grade retreat in the gym for our young people. Fr. Chris brought some seminarians with him to help with the activities. We opened the year with this retreat so all the young people could get together and get to know each other a little better. There were Scriptures readings that went along with the ice breakers and the theme for the day was to create community with one another and to integrate God into the process. The young people had a good time and they had fun challenging each other with the ice breakers. The pictures show the young people participating in the ice breakers.
A couple of week ago the 6th, 7th and 8th grade classes collected clothing and ran a bake sale for St. Francis House. It was a great day and both men’s and women’s clothing were collected. The garage was full!! The money from the bake sale will be used to purchase “Charlie Tokens” for their clients. The revenue from the bake sale was almost $500.
Last weekend, this group ran a bottle and can collection. The young people worked very hard sorting out the bottles and cans on Saturday and Sunday. They did a great job! The revenue from this sale will be used for our summer outreach programs. |

St. Agatha Parish’s Young Church Ministry programs
focus on the growth and development of ministry with
adolescents from grades seven through twelve. This process includes
empowering
young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in
our world today. It seeks to draw young people to responsible
participation
in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith
community and to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of
each
young person.
