Math-a-thon

Grade three students who participated in the Math-a-thon to raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital were awarded their certificates and prizes on Tuesday morning by Mrs. Simmons. The students this year pledged almost $2700. Madigan Kelly and John Reetz were the two students who raised the most money. St. Jude’s is very grateful each year for the support that St. Agatha School gives them. Thank you so much to all our participants. You did a great job!

Our 3rd grade students were asked to read a book about a President. As you can see, the children completed this project by completing a book report and designing a poster about their President. Enjoy our students' pictures.

Grade 3 students have been reading about sea turtles in our Trophies Reading Series. As a follow-up, the children were asked to research a sea creature and write a short report based on what they learned. The children were also asked to create an illustration to go with their reports. Some children chose to make dioramas, some chose to sculpt with clay, and others chose to make posters. The children shared their information with Grades K-4 on Friday, March 5. Not only did the students learn a lot, they had great fun sharing their knowledge with the other students.

Christmas Around the World

In preparation for the Christmas Season, third graders created “Christmas Around the World” projects. The projects included an artistic representation and written report of a country which depicts how the culture celebrates the Christmas Season. The third graders showcased their work for the younger students to see. The students learned many new and interesting facts about different cultures in our world and how everyone celebrates Christmas in a unique way.

We have sucessfully completed Chapter One in our third grade Social Studies series.
The students are active citizens of their communities as they have learned the importance of obeying laws set up by leaders in order to promote safety and fairness to one another.
The main theme of the Chapter focused on Community life and how each is very, unique and special like each of our third graders. For an assignment the children were asked to create a simple sketch of rural, urban, and suburban areas. The students did a phenomenal job on these posters. They are here online for your viewing pleasure. Keep up the terrific work, third graders!
