ST. AGATHA PARISH NURSE PROGRAM
 |
The St. Agatha Parish Nurse Program
and the Neponset Health Center teamed up to present
the Health Opportunities Fair. The goal is
to help our parishioners and surrounding area residents
to be aware of the community resources available for
staying healthy and for caring for loved ones. Many
thanks to our Parish nurses and the medical community
who gave their time. |

WHAT IS PARISH NURSING
Although Parish Nursing is a relatively new ministry,
its roots can be found in the earliest days of the Church.
Both a ministry and a professional practice, Parish Nursing
places its emphasis on caring for body, mind and spirit. What
sets the parish nurse apart from being merely a "nurse
in a church" is the spiritual focus of the nursing care,
which uses Holy Scripture, church teachings, and prayer to
assist parishioners on their life’s journey. The technical
part of parish nursing has its focus on health promotion and
disease prevention for people of all ages. Nursing care includes
teaching, health screening, and connecting people in need
with church and community resources.
PURPOSE OF PARISH NURSE PROGRAM
The purpose of the Parish Nurse Program is to offer
parishioners an atmosphere of compassion, understanding and
instruction in regard to health and wellness issues. This
program is gospel-centered, modeled on the compassion of Jesus,
based on the identified needs of St. Agatha Parish, collaborative
and inclusive to all generations.
