Fr. Casey Celebrates 40th Anniversary of
Ordination to Priesthood

Family, friends, parishioners, and former parishioners of Fr. Peter Casey gathered at St. Agatha Church for the Noon Mass
to celebrate his 40 years of ministry!

A Note from Fr. Casey:
"The actual date of my being ordained to the Priesthood was May 29, 1968. Today, a little over 40 years later, I give thanks to God, in a special way, for that invitation. As I look back and remember, I know that a loving God has graced me in so many ways. My family, my friends, and the people I have served and served with have been so supportive through the years. Each assignment I have been called to in the Archdiocese has been a gift in my life.
I have been fortunate!
May 29, 1968 was a “rainy” Wednesday, however, there was brightness in the Cathedral of the Holy Cross as the celebration of the Eucharist and Ordination to the Priesthood took place. On that Wednesday morning, we who were to be ordained stood before Cardinal Cushing and spoke the words,
“I am willing and ready, with the help of God.”
In our Catholic Christian tradition, the Sacraments are ongoing realities.
So often, in any given day, I continue to
hear these words going through my mind and heart,
“I am willing and ready, with the help of God.”
I thank all of you for being, in some way, instruments of God’s grace and life to me as I live this sacrament and vocation. I am your priest, yet,
we are all in this together because through the waters of Baptism, we have been called
to be a holy people, God’s chosen people.
We are called to be Priest, Prophet and King!"
